      Hi Emma,
      You can aim to prevent shortsightedness by spending more time outdoors and less time doing close tasks such as computers and mobile phones (everyone hates to hear that!!).
      Shortsightedness is when the eye grows too long.
      There are some contact lenses that are made to try and stop shortsightedness. There will be a scientific trial in Ireland starting next year using eye drops to try and stop the eye growing too long.
