      Well, first electricity exist without us the humans. For example, the lighting in an electrical storm. The electrons are one of the basic particles in all our universe and without them anything will be as it is in our reality.

      If you mean, why do we need our electricity grid? Well, we can survive without it. As a matter of fact, humans have survived lots and lots of years without it. For example, my grandad used to tell me stories of his life before electricity. I can tell you that everything is so much easy with electricity anyway. Look around and you will find that everything seems to work with our electricity grid.
